Sending out your save the dates is exciting because it’s your first chance to officially announce wedding info to guests! If you are like most brides, you may be wondering what the deal is with save the dates, and why do you need them since you will be sending out formal invitations down the road anyways? We encourage you to consider sending out save the dates once the date is set in stone, because they not only help you plan your guest list far in advance, but also bring more RSVPs.

Save the dates are usually sent out at least 6-9 months before the wedding date. This gets you in planning mode even earlier in the game. If you are expecting traveling guests, advanced notice means more of these guests can spare time to attend. Also, save the dates certainly share more than just the date. You’d be surprised how exciting it is to receive a save-the-date when you’re a guest. They get guests amped up for the big day!
